Reusable Air Filters

Life+Air Cut-to-Fit Filter Care Tips

A fresh air filter keeps your home’s air clean and your HVAC running smoothly. Because these Life+Air filters are reusable and custom-sized, taking care of them is a little different than standard filters. Here is everything you need to know to install and maintain them!

Life+Air Cut-to-Fit

Measure & Cut to Size (First Time Only)

  • Use your old filter as a guide: Slide out your current disposable filter.
  • Trace and trim: Lay your new LifeAir material flat, place the old filter on top as a template, and trace the outline. Use a sharp pair of scissors to cut it to the exact size so it fits perfectly.

Slide It into Place

Insert your newly cut LifeAir filter into the system slot or ceiling vent. Make sure it sits flat without major gaps around the edges so air doesn't bypass the material.

Wash and Dry Monthly

To keep the electrostatic charge working effectively, your filter requires regular cleaning:

  • Remove: Slide the dirty filter out of the slot.
  • Rinse: Take it to a sink or outdoor hose. Flush the filter with water from the clean side to push the dust backward out of the material.
  • Use Mild Soap: If the filter has heavy buildup, you can use a few drops of gentle dish soap. Wash gently, then rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear. Never use harsh chemicals like bleach.
  • Dry completely: Shake off excess water and let the filter air-dry completely before putting it back. Putting a damp filter back into the system can cause mold inside your vents.

Monitor and Protect Your System

Because this material is built to last, it won't lose its shape after washing. However, if you notice any physical tears or heavy fraying over time, it's time to trim a fresh piece from your roll.
