Neighbors Helping Neighbors: Food Drive with SOME
The holidays are over. Hunger isn't.
We’re teaming up again withSOME
(So Others Might Eat), a local nonprofit fighting hunger and poverty, to host a neighborhood food drive right here in the Bloomingdale neighborhood of Washington, DC.
This time, we’re offering a few flexible ways to take part, even if you can’t make it in person.
Join us in caring for our city, one bag at a time.
Sunday, January 25th
9 AM–12 PM
Nest DC HQ | 87 Florida Ave NW
You've Got Three Ways to Get Involved
1. Drop off food donations
Sunday, January 25 between 9:00 AM–12:00 PM at 87 Florida Ave NW
Look for the building with the big orange bird. Our team will be there to greet you.
2. Donate funds and let us shop for you
Prefer to give that way? You can donate funds through PayPal, and our team will handle grocery runs for the drive.
Donate your grocery funds by Jan 22nd here
3. Grocery shop but need pickup help?
If you’re in or near the Bloomingdale neighborhood and can’t drop items off, we can help. Emailmimi@nest-dc.comto coordinate a pickup on the day of the drive. Availability is limited based on location and timing.
Every donation makes a difference. These food items are especially helpful right now:
- Meals in a can (such as chili, beef stew, spaghetti)
- Canned fruit, in its own juice or water
- Canned vegetables, no added sodium (such as beans)
- Canned meats (chicken, salmon, tuna)
- Low-sodium soup
- Whole wheat pasta and pasta sauce
- Low sugar cereal and oatmeal
- Healthy snacks
- Nuts
- Oils and vinegars
To make sure your gift goes straight to a neighbor’s table:
- Please check that food items are unopened and within their “best by” date
- Clothing should be laundered and in good condition
- Household items should be
gently used or new
