DC’s Hidden Treasures

Nest DC

Everyone has their favorite trendy spots in the city. I mean, we love where we live but sometimes it's nice to escape from the hustle and bustle and go somewhere a little less obvious. And really, what's better than discovering a spot that's under the radar? This is a subtitle for your new post

Our favorite low-key places to escape and enjoy the weather (this week was a warm one!) would have to be Turkey Run Trail and Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens. Grab the dog, kiddos, or ride solo to either. You won't need much more company than the views of the Potomac River at Turkey Run or the breathtaking plant and wildlife at Kenilworth, anyway. Open year-round, they are both a great break from the typical city views.

There are endless options for grabbing a bite, but what about a seriously good bite without the crowd?
Lincoln's Waffle Shop definitely makes our short list. With an authentic diner vibe, you'll be sure to frequent this charming spot for your breakfast eats. Now to the good stuff... lunch! There's no better place to grab a sub than SUNdeVICH. Country-themed sandwiches delight, and you simply can't leave without a whoopie pie. Your taste buds will NOT be disappointed.

Fast forward to cocktail hour and we're heading to not just one, but two speak-easys on K Street. You'll know you're at The Mirror when you find yourself at a semi-abandoned looking, lower-level office door. Craft + cozy is always a win. For a very special occasion, you can find us at The Allegory. This Eaton DC spot wraps literature, art, social justice, and amazing sips into an unforgettable experience.

See you at the sandwich shop!
