Neighbors Helping Neighbors: Food Drive with SOME
Let’s feed DC, together.
We’re teaming up with
SOME (So Others Might Eat), a local nonprofit fighting hunger and poverty, to host a neighborhood food drive right here in Bloomingdale. Join us in caring for our city, one bag at a time.
Sunday, August 31st
Drop Off 9 AM–12 PM
Nest DC HQ | 87 Florida Ave NW
Every donation makes a difference. These items are especially helpful right now:
- Applesauce (plastic jars, unsweetened)
- Canned chicken, tuna, salmon, or ham
- Peanut butter
- Canned veggies + fruit (no added sodium or sugar)
- Pasta, rice, “meals in a box”
- Granola bars & instant mashed potatoes
- Shelf-stable or powdered milk
- Soup, stew, chili
To make sure your gift goes straight to a neighbor’s table:
- Please check that food items are unopened and within their “best by” date
- Clothing should be laundered and in good condition
- Household items should be
gently used or new

About SOME
So Others Might Eat has been serving our DC neighbors for over 50 years. Each year, they distribute more than
70,000 pounds of groceries and provide clothing, hygiene kits, and household essentials to thousands of residents in need.
Every item donated stays right here in the community, offered
free of charge to individuals and families. From meals to emergency services to long-term support, SOME makes sure our city shows up for its own.
